In Week 5 of Jesus and the Griswolds, we turn our attention to Rusty and discover what real, authentic faith looks like when it’s lived out at home. In a season full of unrealistic expectations and messy family moments, Scripture reminds us that God isn’t looking for perfection—He’s looking at the heart. “People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). David wasn’t chosen because he was impressive, but because he was willing, honest, and authentic. God still values authenticity over perfection.
Rusty wasn’t impressed with Clark’s mistakes, but he caught his dad’s heart. That’s the power of influence. Faith is caught more than taught. Kids don’t need parents who never fail—they need parents who never fake it. Psalm 78 calls us to pass the stories of God to the next generation so they will set their hope on Him. God’s plan is simple: tell His stories, live them out, and let your children see real faith in action.
Real faith at home is practical and visible. It apologizes. It is consistent. It prays, worships, and serves in ways children can witness. Patterns preach louder than words, and the habits we model become the defaults our kids inherit. Your walk with God becomes their expectation of God.
As we look toward our 2026 Family-Discipleship vision, we’re building homes where spiritual conversations become normal. The next generation doesn’t need perfect parents—just present, honest, Jesus-seeking ones whose authentic faith is worth passing on.
