This week in Jesus and the Griswolds, we turn our attention to everyone’s favorite unpredictable family member—Cousin Eddie. Eddie has big faith… but not always the kind rooted in wisdom. He believes things will somehow work out, yet he doesn’t always steward what he already has. And if we’re honest, many of us can relate. We pray for God to bless our finances while still clinging tightly to control. We hope for peace while our spending, saving, or giving habits tell a different story.
In Scripture, money isn’t just a budget discussion—it’s a heart discussion. Jesus teaches in Matthew 6:21, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” If we want to know what we truly trust, all we need to do is look at where our resources go. Solomon encourages us in Proverbs 3:9–10 to honor the Lord first, not with what’s left at the bottom. And Paul reminds us in 1 Timothy 6:17–19 that real life isn’t found in wealth—but in dependence on God and generosity toward others.
This message will challenge us to shift from assumption to action—from hoping God will fix everything to actually trusting Him with everything. Because God can do more with 90% surrendered than we can do with 100% stressed.
Big Idea: Stewardship isn’t about how much you have—it’s about what you do with what God’s given you.
Takeaway: God can’t bless what you don’t trust Him with.
