In the second sermon of the “You Got Game” series, titled “It’s Time to Join the Team!”, we explore the importance of stepping out of isolation and embracing the call to serve. Last week, we were reminded that God is with us through both good and bad times, as seen in Elijah’s encounter with God in the still small voice. What stood out is Elijah’s isolation (1 Kings 19:3b-4) and its dangerous consequences—depression and disengagement.
Isolation is harmful, but collaboration brings life. Just as today’s church relies on collective efforts in cleaning, setup, and preparation. Every contribution, no matter how small, is critical to the mission of the church.
Acts 6:1-6 reminds us that growth comes when people step up to serve, and no role is insignificant. Serving is not just about meeting needs; it’s a path to personal spiritual growth and fulfillment. As Ephesians 2:8-10 and other scriptures teach us, we are all called to serve.
The call to action is clear: serve somewhere, make an impact, and be part of God’s greater mission. Commit to joining the team and impacting the Kingdom!
