Winning The War In Your Mind - Week 4

Mrs. Alicia Dewitt MS, LMHC, NCC) will share this powerful fourth installment of the “Winning the War In Your Mind” series, licensed counselor Mrs. Dewitt will guide us through the biblical wisdom of Philippians 4:6-9, revealing how we can overcome anxiety and find lasting peace. Paul’s command is clear: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Phil. 4:6). When we do this, God’s peace—beyond our understanding—will guard our hearts and minds (v. 7). Mrs. Dewitt will show how our thoughts shape our lives and the importance of focusing on God’s truth, which leads us toward peace.

Drawing from both scripture and her expertise as a counselor at Targeted Counseling LLC in Lafayette, Indiana, Alicia will explore how "your life is always moving in the direction of your strongest thoughts." Studies, such as Dr. Caroline Leaf’s research, show that consistent prayer can physically change our brain and foster inner calm.

The sermon will also address the spiritual aspect of anxiety—how worry is a form of distrusting God’s promises and power. As Romans 8:5-6 emphasizes, letting the Holy Spirit control our thoughts leads to peace and life, while allowing anxiety to dominate leads to death. Mrs. Dewitt will teach us how to do what we can, trust God with what we can't, and experience peace no matter the circumstances. Join us for a transformative message of trust, healing, and divine peace.
