Daniel 1:1-6
People of Grace and Truth - Week 1

The sermon titled “People of Grace and Truth” is the first message in the series, "We’re Not Gonna Take It," which explores how Christians should navigate the political landscape from a biblical perspective. Drawing from Daniel 1:1-6, we see how King Nebuchadnezzar chose Israelite influencers like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah to serve in Babylon, aiming to mold them according to the ways of his kingdom. Despite being in a foreign and often hostile environment, Daniel and his friends remained steadfast, walking in grace and truth.

Daniel 6:1-5 further highlights Daniel’s exceptional qualities as a leader in government—trustworthy, incorruptible, and wise. This provides a model for Christians called to live out both grace and truth in society today. John 1:14 reveals Jesus as the embodiment of grace and truth, and we are called to reflect that same balance.

In today’s political climate, it’s easy to err on the side of either grace or truth, but both are essential. Without truth, we conform to the world; without grace, we become harsh and judgmental. This sermon will explore how Christians can hold firmly to God’s truth while extending grace to those around them, influencing the world without being corrupted by it. Together, we will see how we can be people who stand up for biblical values with wisdom, integrity, and love.
