What if the key to experiencing more of the Holy Spirit isn’t trying harder, but learning to yield?
In Week 2 of our Ghosted series, “Start Yielding,” we discover that God never intended for us to navigate life in our own strength. Before Jesus returned to heaven, He told His disciples to wait for the promised Holy Spirit. The Helper was always part of God’s plan, because the life He calls us to live is bigger than anything we can accomplish on our own.
But experiencing the Spirit’s leadership means learning to slow down, listen, and give Him the right of way. We often want God to move at our pace, answer on our schedule, and follow our plans. Yet Scripture calls us to keep in step with the Spirit, trusting His direction instead of giving in to every feeling, impulse, or desire.
Peter’s story reminds us that transformation doesn’t come from trying harder or relying on ourselves. The same man who denied Jesus three times was restored by grace and empowered by the Holy Spirit to boldly proclaim the gospel. His story shows us what God can do when we stop depending on our own strength and start following His lead.
Here’s the truth: yielding isn’t weakness; it’s surrendering to the One who knows the way. And we don’t follow the Holy Spirit out of fear that God will reject us. We follow Him because, through Jesus, we belong to the Father.
You haven’t been abandoned, and you don’t have to figure it all out alone. It’s time to slow down, surrender control, and start yielding to the Holy Spirit.
