Jesus Left. The Holy Spirit Came. Everything Changed.

Ever feel like God is there one minute and gone the next? When prayers seem unanswered, life feels chaotic, and God seems silent, it’s easy to wonder if you’ve been ghosted. But what if God’s presence has never been as far away as you thought?

In the opening week of our Ghosted series, we’ll discover that the Holy Spirit isn’t a newcomer to God’s story. From the very first verses of Genesis to the incredible day of Pentecost, the Spirit has always been present, active, and at work. Before creation was finished, the Spirit hovered over the waters. He empowered ordinary people like Bezalel to do extraordinary work, moved beyond expected boundaries, and promised a day when God’s Spirit would be poured out on all people.

Through the prophets, God promised more than outward behavior change. He promised a new heart and His Spirit living within His people. When Jesus told His disciples that His departure would make way for the coming of the Holy Spirit, He wasn’t abandoning them. He was preparing them for a new way to experience God’s presence.

At Pentecost, that promise became reality.

The same Spirit who hovered over creation and empowered God’s people is still at work today. Your circumstances may be messy, your faith may feel uncertain, and your prayers may seem unanswered, but that doesn’t mean God has left you.

Jesus didn’t ghost His followers. He made a way for God’s presence to dwell within them. Through faith in Jesus, you can experience that presence, too. Everything changed when the Holy Spirit came—and He’s still changing lives today.
