Parent Guilt Wk#4 – Imitating God

Back to Sermon Notes

Our greatest model for loving others is the way Jesus loves us (vs. 2), laying down His life for us. When we die to ourselves, we are obeying God and imitating Him.

What would it look like for you to imitate your parent?

Key Verse for Today: Ephesians 5:1&2- 1 God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. 2Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

1) Our greatest model for loving others is the way Jesus loves us (vs. 2), laying down His life for us. When we die to ourselves, we are God and imitating Him.
It’s been done for others and we will pause to honor and pray those affected on this memorial day weekend.

2) How will our kids ever learn how to imitate God if we’re not doing it ?
“Proverbs 22:6… Train up a child in the way he should go…. (PBH version)  but be sure you go that way yourself”
We must model what we want mimicked

Closing  – I dare you to ask this question – What is one way I can be less ?
Ephesians 5:1&2 – 1 God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. 2Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
