Homeless for the Holidays.

Hey Innovation Family,

It’s getting really close to THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR! Well at least that’s what the song says and for most of my life Christmas time has been a time of celebration and family.

Well this year it won’t be that way for some others. This year may be the worst time of the year and something that they look back on and hate. That is because in 2021 during Christmas they were homeless. For whatever reason there will be nowhere for them to go, to celebrate, to call home for the holidays.

That’s where we would like to step in. Yes in the past we have helped pack shoe boxes, and with Christmas for Everyone and Salvation Army and many others but this year we are looking directly into our own communities needs just like with our 5th Sunday “Serve Sundays”.

At Innovation we have a heart for those in need and we have heard the upcoming stories for 2021 and we want to change that in a partnership with an organization called Family Promise.

If you don’t know about them, Family Promise is the only family shelter for homeless families in our area and they are in need of host families during the holiday season.

When I say host families I mean a family or two that would be willing to provide and/or share a meal with those that are at the Family Promise homeless house for the holidays.

So on December 20th, 22nd, 24th, & 27th, 29th, 31st that we as people from Innovation would sign up for a specific day to provide a meal and be present from 5pm to 9pm and share some of our time with those that nowhere for the holidays.

If you are interested in this opportunity please let me know which dates that you could cover ASAP as we would love to fill those dates for Family promise and get to once again be the hands and feet of Jesus for those in need.

We are still awaiting the number of people that you will provide food but we hope to be able to hear back from them shortly and be able to say “WE GOT THIS” and feed those in need this Holiday Season.

Our goal is to have at least 2 families serving each day and so we are looking for a MINIMUM of 12 families that would be willing in the midst of the busiest time of the year to slow down and demonstrate to another family what Christmas is all about.

Maybe you can deliver but not cook or maybe cook and not deliver well let us know what role you can play and we will piece it together.

Thanks

Pastor Billy
