During this two week break from “The Story” we look back through where we have been in scripture thus far in 2020 and look at all the evidence of Jesus through the 1st half of the Old Testament. The parallel between the Old and New Testament is uncanny. Throughout the old Testament, all of History points towards Jesus. Hence the New Testament fills in the blanks in which the Old Testament couldn’t answer.
Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit (Judges 21:25). God raised up Samuel to lead the people (1 Samuel 3:4). Israel rejected the sons, refused to obey Samuel, and demanded a king (1 Samuel 8:19–20). When Samuel reported their request to God, the Lord answered, “Listen to them and give them a king” (1 Samuel 8:22). The story of the Kings of Israel and Judah flip back and fourth between good and evil. This is that saga.
